Information about organic farming

The Friland J. Hansen GmbH stands for the principles of organic farming. Excellent meat quality is closely linked, in our eyes, to the animals' welfare.

Meat marketed by us is always produced by the strictly controlled standards of the EEC regulation 834/2007 and partly also by the principles of separate organisations (Bioland and Naturland).


The principles of organic livestock farming in a few words:

  • species-appropriate animal husbandry which ensures welfare and comfort;
  • limited number of cattle, determined by area;
  • fully slatted floors are prohibited;
  • husbandry under field conditions is granted;
  • feeding only organically produced and preferably same-farm-grown feed;
  • no utilization of hormones, no yield-increase or growth-acceleration products;
  • no preventative application of antibiotics; in case of illness herbal and homeopathic medications are preferred to chemical-synthetical allopathic veterinary drugs;
  • no systematic application of procedures like tailing or clipping of teeth and beaks;
  • use of robust and vital breeds which suit the region.
